Two story 2,200 ft2 brick single family home built in 1941, with concrete block wall basement. About 15' of basement wall has mortar joint leaks caused by improper placement of the downspout. Several scores of concrete block show recent water stains. If the rain is heavy, the water will run across the basement floor. To control water flow, I created temporary caulk dams to direct the water to a basement drain. I want to fix only the leak area, not the entire wall. Can you help?

Water seems to be getting into basement in a couple of places where wall meets floor.
